gymnastics

safety at lake owenLake Owen has a comprehensive system of 8 Deep Foam Pits and 9 floor level “Resi-Pits” that provide for the safest possible transition of skills from the learning stage to the competition floor.

This system provides all athletes, young and old, beginner to advanced, a unique opportunity to move to the next level in a comprehensive and logical manner.

The Logical Way to Learn:

  • Learn in Deep Foam Pits
  • Progress to the Resi-Pit (to refine skills)
  • Perform skills on Competition Landing Mats

action sports

In addition to requiring the use of helmets and all pads, Lake Owen uses foam to make extreme sports training…just a little bit less extreme. We use a Foam and Resi system, which allows campers to learn skills and progress to regular competition terrain gradually. We are always looking for new ways to make training safer.

The Logical Way to Learn
Lake Owen's foam landings provide the ultimate way to learn.

Learn in Deep Foam Pit
Foam provides the ultimate way to learn new skills without unnecessary suffering.

safetyresi-box cutaway Progress to the Resi-box (to refine skills)
Once you figure a trick out in the foam, bring it to the Resi to dial it in and learn how to land.

Perform Skills on Competition Surfaces
After you feel comfortable landing on the Resi then you can perform the trick with increased confidence and safety on the real surface.

WARNING! : By the very nature of the activities, gymnastics, skateboarding, inline skating and freestyle bicycling all carry the risk of physical injury. No matter how careful the participants and instructors are, no matter how many spotters are used, no matter what safety equipment is worn, no matter what surface is being ridden, the risk cannot be eliminated. Risk can be reduced, but never eliminated. The risk of injury includes minor injuries such as bruises, and more serious injuries such as broken bones, dislocations and muscle pulls. The risk also includes catastrophic injuries such as permanent paralysis or even death from landings or falls on the back, neck or head.
